How to break into a saturated platform
There’s only one step.

There are over 150 million users on Medium.
89%+ are CONSUMING content only.
The math on that is 150M x 89% = 133 million people.
Picture 45 people at your local Starbucks. Now picture 100 million of those.
Those are people who are LOOKING FOR CONTENT.
They have Medium open whenever they are on break at work, dreaming of a better work situation. They are scrolling through it at the grocery store in line. They are scrolling during commercial breaks of live sports. They are scrolling at red lights. They are scrolling on the toilet.
They are scrolling for entertaining/educational/insightful content on:
Cooking, technology, cats (yes, Beth, you were right), ChatGPT, self-development, anxiety relief, ADHD, Alzheimer’s, content creation, marketing, IT, hiking, hunting, fishing, working out, eating better, saving money, spending money, investing money, surviving a 9–5 job, surviving a 5–9 job, real estate, movies, documentaries, politics, news, basketball, football, rugby and hundreds of other interests that aren’t worth listing because this email would go on forever.
So.
The way to break into a saturated platform is:
Realize there is no such thing as a saturated platform.
Be brave enough to shake the fear.
Be humble enough to start from zero.
So, you can keep complaining that the internet is “too crowded.”
Or you can stomp the excuses and get the attention, shares, and money up for grabs by the millions as we speak.
